At the center of the Greater Geneva Bern area, the know-how gained from the watchmaking industry has given rise to the development of essential skills and expertise in the fields of automation, micromechanics and microelectronics.  This know-how can be applied in industry sectors such as medical technologies (MedTech), pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, biotechnology, fine chemicals, cleantech, semiconductors and information and communications technologies (ICT).  For decades, the GGBa has been able to attract companies and institutions active in these highly value-added sectors as a result of its dynamic economy and its well-qualified workforce.
