HUG and SIB launch a new cancer diagnostic platformWednesday, 12 October 2016
Thanks to Oncobench®, oncologists will be able to predict and diagnose diseases more accurately, and to propose preventive measures and tailored treatments.
Fruit of the close collaboration between the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB), Oncobench® is a new genomic analysis platform in the field of oncology. It was designed to analyze tumor data in clinical practice of a total of 50 genes for dozens of patients at each sequencing, in order to collect 500 million DNA data per patient. The genomic analysis allows for a faster and more accurate diagnosis of cancer.
The Oncobench® platform is intended to be shared with other hospitals in the near future, as part of a nationwide implementation of top-quality clinical bioinformatics tools. This initiative is aimed at fostering the development of personalized medicine, the Geneva University Hospitals said in a press release.
