A groundbreaking new international event launched by ThinkSport aims to stimulate progress in sport by bringing together the brightest minds and freshest innovations inside and outside the industry. The inaugural edition of The SPOT will take place on 15-16 May 2018 in Lausanne.

What will the world of sport look like in the future? How will technology affect the way sport is played, managed and consumed? All this, and much more, will be discussed at The SPOT, a pioneering event organized by ThinkSport with the support of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and the canton of Vaud.

The event will be held on 15-16 May 2018 at the SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne. It will showcase and promote innovative ideas, products, companies, and best practices by leveraging the unique concentration of sport-related knowledge in Western Switzerland as well as key international innovation spotters.

“Our region is the undisputed nerve center of international sport, with a unique concentration of international sports organizations, academic excellence and innovative businesses. The SPOT will pool and leverage these strengths,” said Anna Hellman, Director of ThinkSport. “Our aim is to provoke new approaches, strategies and partnerships, aimed at benefitting active people and the future of sport.”

The conference will address a wide range of topics, including smart venues, connected sports equipment, machine learning in sport, cyber technology, digital security, bionics and nutrigenomics, and future trends in eSports.

The SPOT will also feature an international start-up contest. Young companies are invited to submit their business ideas before 20 April 2018. The shortlisted start-ups will have the opportunity to pitch in front of an international, knowledgeable and sports-minded audience that will include investors.
