Top Swiss bank UBS has decided to establish a Business Solution Center in Switzerland’s largest bilingual city. Some 600 employees will be relocated from Zurich to Biel. The new offices will be ready for use at the end of 2018 or in early 2019. According to Axel Lehmann, chief operating officer at UBS, the city of Biel is “an ideal place” for the group. On the linguistic border between the French and German-speaking regions, Biel is at the heart of a world-class university network comprising the Universities of Bern and Neuchâtel, as well as the University of Applied Sciences of the Jura Arc. UBS counts on this large pool of competences and expertise to attract new talent.

In parallel, Switzerland’s leading bank will move 100 jobs to its recently renovated Renens site, in the French-speaking canton of Vaud, where some 350 to 400 employees are already working. The UBS group has about 60,000 employees worldwide, including over 20,000 in Switzerland.
